the earth & the MOON
The earth, our home planet
you may think you know a lot about the earth but we're here to teach you more!Mass: 5,972,190,000,000,000 billion kg
Equatorial Diameter: 12,756 km Polar Diameter: 12,714 km Equatorial Circumference: 40,030 km Known Moons: 1 Notable Moons: The Moon Orbit Distance: 149,598,262 km (1 AU) Orbit Period: 365.26 Earth days Surface Temperature: -88 to 58° C As you can see in the above image there is many layers to the Earth.
We've only explored the crust but deeper down there is other layers that make up molten core. You can't dig all the way through the Earth no matter how hard you try, not only would it take too long but it will get too hot to quickly. |
The first place we are going to explore is The Earth, its where you and every human has ever lived. Its the most important planet we know of and the only one with life. Today we are going to help you learn a bit more about your home planet and hopefully you have fun.
Earth is humanity’s home planet. Most of its surface (over 70%) is covered with oceans, with the rest featuring a wide variety of land forms, from mountains and valleys to plains and beaches. Earth has a thick atmosphere, which is mostly nitrogen (78%) and oxygen (21%), with other gases such as argon, carbon dioxide, and water present in small amounts. The region on and near the surface of Earth (both above and below ground) is lled with life. The presence of liquid water on the planet’s surface and the existence of life make the Earth a unique object in the Solar System. Whether life could and does exist outside of Earth is the subject of study through the science of astrobiology.

At a distance of 384,400 km from the Earth, the Moon is our closest celestial neighbor and only natural satellite, it’s our next door neighbor and we have visited it several times before. Because of this fact, we have been able to gain more knowledge about it than any other body in the Solar System besides the Earth. Like the Earth itself, the Moon is unique in some ways and rather ordinary in others.
